In brief

Israel’s election results show the opposition winning 67 seats out of 120, while Netanyahu’s right‑wing bloc holds 53, creating a hung parliament that will need Arab party support for a majority. The Central Elections Committee has released results covering roughly 97 % of ballots and will finalize the count officially on Nov 4 after additional verification.

Israel's recent election count sees the opposition secure 67 seats, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's right‑wing bloc holds 53, according to a near‑complete tally released by the Central Elections Committee on Thursday.

Xinhua reported that the 67 seats won by the opposition consist of 48 seats held by parties aligned with former military chief Gadi Eisenkot and 19 seats won by Arab parties.

The tally covers roughly 97% of the ballots released, leaving neither side with the 61 seats required for a majority without Arab party support.

Both Netanyahu's bloc and the Eisenkot‑aligned opposition remain short of a clear majority, meaning the new Knesset will be forced to seek coalition arrangements to govern.

According to Xinhua, the vote count will be finalized later on Thursday but is expected to be officially announced on November 4 after a formal review by the committee.
