Kyodo News reported that the Nuclear Regulation Authority has ordered Chubu Electric Power Co. to step up safety operations after falsified data was found at its Iida nuclear plant in central Japan.
The regulator cited shortcomings in safety reporting that could undermine the plant’s reliability, noting that inaccurate data could hide potential safety risks.
Chubu Electric has acknowledged the issue and announced that it will comply with the Nuclear Regulation Authority’s new oversight measures to restore confidence in its reporting practices.
Authorities say the order is part of Japan’s broader effort to enforce stringent safety standards across the country’s nuclear fleet, after a series of incidents and audits raised concerns about data integrity and reporting transparency.
