Ukrainian Vegetable Vendor Survives Drone ‘Human Safari’ Attack Near Frontline
On a rain‑slick night the city of Kherson – only a few miles from the front line – became the scene of a fresh drone strike. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky released a video from the battlefield showing a 52‑year‑old street vegetable seller, Yuriy, running from a remote‑controlled drone that exploded overhead.
The drone, locally known as a “human safari” because of its ruthless targeting of civilians, detonated close to Yuriy’s stall, leaving him with shrapnel wounds and a concussion. “He escaped the blast, but the footage shows the brutal reality of the conflict,” BBC’s Paul Adams reports from Kyiv.
Russia has repeatedly denied intentionally striking civilians, calling the incident an accident. Yet eyewitness accounts and recent satellite imagery reveal a pattern of similar drone strikes aimed at civilian populations in towns like Kherson.
The attack highlights how the war’s reach extends beyond the front line, inflicting harm on ordinary citizens caught in the crossfire.
