In brief

After the US- Iran ceasefire collapsed, the United States has carried out its seventh consecutive night of airstrikes against Iranian targets. The strikes aim to degrade Iranian military capabilities, according to US Central Command. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard reports explosions in the Strait of Hormuz, a claim denied by Centcom. The strikes have disrupted shipping through the strategic strait, affecting about a fifth of global oil supplies. Washington insists all attacks were on military infrastructure, while civilians and infrastructure in Iran were shielded.

US military says it is carrying out the seventh night of strikes on Iran since the ceasefire collapsed.

Centcom stated the attacks aim to “continue degrading Iranian military capabilities at the Commander in Chief's direction.”

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) claimed two oil tankers exploded in the Strait of Hormuz while passing through a mined section of the shipping channel. Centcom dismissed the claim as false.

Reported explosions also hit Yazd city, Qeshm island and Bandar Abbas port. The state-run Fars agency said the tankers exploded and caught fire in a mined route south of the strait.

Shipping traffic through the vital Strait of Hormuz has largely halted amid these tit-for-tat strikes. Normally the strait accounts for roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas flows.

Iran’s forces also claimed attacks on US facilities in Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan and Syria—attacks that the US denied.

Kuwait officials reported Iranian drone strikes injured soldiers and damaged a power plant and water desalination stations.

Sources say American service members were injured during Iranian attacks on Jordanian bases over the past week.

The White House confirmed that US strikes targeted only military sites and logistics infrastructure, not civilian infrastructure such as bridges or airports.

BBC Verify and BBC Persian verified footage showing damage to Gariveh Bridge in Hormozgan province. Daytime images reveal a crumbled stretch of road and rubble around the broken bridge.

One week of nightly US attacks has intensified as peace talks with Iran falter, raising concerns about the future of the Strait of Hormuz.

Commercial vessels have largely stopped passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
