Trump Threatens To Bomb Oman If It Blocks Iran Deal

US President Donald Trump has threatened to bomb the Gulf nation of Oman if it deters the United States from reaching a deal with Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, Fox News reported on Wednesday.

The US and Oman have been separately negotiating with Tehran to re‑open the waterway, which has been largely closed for nearly six months amid the US‑Iran war. Trump’s comments were made during an interview with Fox News, and were accompanied by expletives about how the situation would be handled should Oman intervene. Iranian officials earlier said that Oman and Iran had reached an agreement for ships to travel through the Strait.

In a separate interview, Trump dismissed the possibility of a 60‑day Memorandum of Understanding between the US and Iran that was set to expire. When asked by BBC News whether he would seek an extension, Trump answered simply: “No.” He also hinted at a direct back‑channel with Iranian forces, a claim that the IRGC has denied, calling Trump’s statements “delusions and nightmares”.

Iran has maintained that full reopening of the Strait depends on it receiving compensation from the US for breaches of the MoU. Some Iranian officials have suggested a fee range of 5‑7% of cargo values for vessels crossing the waterway.

The headline threat illustrates the high‑tension atmosphere between Washington, Tehran and Gulf allies, with the US still warning that Iran “cannot have a nuclear weapon” under any circumstances.
