WASHINGTON (PulseWire News) — In an exclusive interview with The Wall Street Journal, President Donald Trump provided insights into his health status and clarified details about a CT scan conducted during an examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in October. Trump expressed regret for the public speculation that arose following news of the scan, noting he initially misidentified it as an MRI.
Trump's physician, Navy Capt. Sean Barbabella, confirmed that the CT scan was a routine precautionary measure. Despite earlier ambiguities, Barbabella emphasized that the results were perfectly normal, with no abnormalities detected.
During the interview, Trump mentioned he had briefly tried using compression socks to alleviate swelling but discontinued them because he found them uncomfortable. Additionally, he addressed visible bruising on his hands, attributing it to frequent handshaking and his regular use of aspirin, which he takes to mitigate heart attack risks.
Trump has faced increasing scrutiny regarding his health, especially as he is the first 79-year-old president in American history. In a defiant stance, he highlighted his energy levels, attributing them to good genetics while dismissing claims of fatigue during meetings, clarifying that he sometimes merely blinks or rests his eyes.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt reiterated that the president's health information has been transparent and that he has no intention of hiding the truth from the public. Trump concluded by emphasizing his overall health and commitment to staying active in his presidential duties.
