Tiger Woods Set to Change Plea After Florida Crash Arrest

The professional golfer, 50, is scheduled to alter his court plea following a March 2026 arrest for driving under the influence in Martin County, Florida.

Police released body‑camera footage in April that captured the incident, showing Woods’ vehicle clipping a pickup truck and rolling over. A passenger was forced to crawl out of the car to escape the impact, but no one was injured.

During the stop, Woods told officers: “I looked down at my phone, and all of a sudden, boom”. He passed a breathalyser but refused a urinalysis. The sheriff’s office later found two white pills in his pocket, identified as hydrocodone, an opioid usually prescribed for pain.

In March he pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence and refusal to submit to testing. The new plea hearing is set for Wednesday morning, though prosecutors have not yet specified the status he will adopt.

Woods posted a statement after the arrest: I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today. I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritise my wellbeing and work toward lasting recovery.

This incident marks Woods’ second arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence, following an earlier incident during a match in March 2026.
