Senegalese police say they have arrested 14 people and broken up a paedophile gang operating between the country and France.

According to a police statement, the suspects, all Senegalese, were part of a 'transnational' criminal group that has been active since 2017.

The group is accused of serious crimes, including 'organised paedophilia, pimping, rape of minors under 15, sodomy, and intentional transmission of HIV/Aids'. Reports indicate that boys were forced into unprotected sex with mostly HIV-positive men and recorded the acts.

Four members of the gang were reportedly taking instructions from a French man who was arrested in France in April 2025, with money transfers cited as an exchange.

The accused were brought before a judge following coordinated searches in several neighbourhoods of Dakar and in the city of Kaolack, located 200km southeast of the capital.

A police statement revealed that the raids led to the recovery of items believed to be connected to the alleged crimes.

Authorities confirmed the operation, carried out with French cooperation, aimed to dismantle a significant criminal network spanning Senegal and France, and promised to continue pursuing similar networks.
