Former US President Joe Biden recently underwent skin cancer surgery, his spokeswoman confirmed.
Biden had Mohs surgery, a procedure used to remove skin until no evidence of cancer remains, but details about the operation have not been fully disclosed.
The 82-year-old was seen with a wound on the right side of his head in the days leading up to the surgery, raising concerns about his health.
In 2023, Biden had a cancerous skin lesion removed from his chest during a routine health screening and, in May, he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer which has spread to his bones.
Cancer touches us all, he wrote on social media during his prostate cancer diagnosis. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places.
Previously, Biden had several non-melanoma skin cancers removed before taking office. He has significantly reduced his public appearances since leaving the White House in January.
Both Bidens have been strong advocates for cancer research and patient support, particularly following the death of their son, Beau, from brain cancer in 2015.
