WASHINGTON (AP) — Newly released emails from disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein outline troubling details regarding Donald Trump’s connections to sex trafficking. In a 2011 email, Epstein claimed Trump had “spent hours” at his home with a victim of sex trafficking, suggesting Trump was aware of Epstein’s illicit activities.

The emails, unveiled by Democrats on the House Oversight Committee, have intensified scrutiny of Trump’s longstanding friendship with Epstein. Trump has consistently maintained that he had no knowledge of Epstein's criminal conduct and claimed to have distanced himself from him years ago.

In another email directed to Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's convicted associate, he indicated that Trump had never been implicated in any discussions. “I want you to realize that that dog that hasn’t barked is Trump,” Epstein wrote. Additionally, in a message to journalist Michael Wolff, Epstein suggested that Trump indeed knew about the victims when he urged Maxwell to stop her actions.

The contents of these emails raise critical questions about Trump's relationship with Epstein and the implications of these connections in the broader context of Epstein's legal battles, including the scrutiny faced by Maxwell who is currently serving a 20-year sentence for her role in the operation.

Despite all these revelations, the White House did not respond to requests for comments immediately.

Epstein, who died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal charges, left a legacy intertwined with numerous high-profile figures. His involvement with Trump continues to elicit ongoing discussions and investigations.
