Last Monday, prosecutors unveiled fresh footage at a Utah courtroom that appears to show Tyler Robinson, the man accused of killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025. The clip places the suspect on the Losee Building rooftop just minutes before the fatal shot was fired at Kirk, who was speaking to a student crowd.
Video evidence shows Robinson after a manhunt began, running along the campus roof, dropping an object that may have been a rifle, and then exiting the UTV grounds. Prosecutors say the footage supports their claim that Robinson was present at the shooting scene.
Robinson, 23, faces aggravated murder and is being considered for the death penalty. The defense, led by attorney Kathy Nester, has argued that the footage was edited and that witnesses describing the rooftop suspect differed, seeking to have the evidence excluded.
During the hearing the state Bureau of Investigation’s lead investigator, David Hull, walked jurors through the clip and explained how the suspect’s vehicle, clothing changes, and possible limp were captured by the campus cameras. Hull also noted that a rifle was found in the wooded area where the suspect later traveled.
Judge Graf will not decide guilt but determine whether the prosecution’s evidence is sufficient to move the case to trial. The preliminary hearing is slated to continue throughout the week, with updates expected as new evidence emerges.
