According to police, Purwadi ordered the satay on 18 May, dipped the skewers in a toxic chemical that is commonly used as rat poison, and couriered them to the residence of Aminah, the 57‑year‑old mother‑in‑law.

Aminah was found the next day and the family dug out her body, finding it covered in vomit. Forensic testing on the exhumed corpse revealed signs of poisoning in her organs and traces of the toxic substance.

The suspect is being held on suspicion of murder – a crime that can carry the death penalty or at least a twenty‑year prison term in Indonesia. Authorities are investigating the planned nature of the crime.

Sources say Purwadi pretended to be his sister‑in‑law on a delivery app, using her name and photo, to shop for the satay. A delivery driver raised questions about the strange packaging, and witnesses noted dead chickens near the victim’s coop.

The case will be reviewed under Indonesia’s death‑penalty system. Police continue to gather evidence as the investigation unfolds.
