In brief

While there has been no operational disruption, investigations continue into drone incursions.

Reports have emerged of unidentified drones flying over several U.S. Air Force bases in the United Kingdom. The Air Force confirmed that "small unmanned aerial systems" have been sighted near four bases, including R.A.F. Lakenheath and R.A.F. Mildenhall in Suffolk, R.A.F. Feltwell in Norfolk, and R.A.F. Fairford in Gloucestershire. According to a statement from the U.S. Air Force, installation leaders have assessed that the drone activity has not affected base residents, facilities, or operations. The military is implementing necessary measures to ensure the safety of the installations and their personnel. During a news briefing, Pentagon Press Secretary Maj. Gen. Patrick Ryder emphasized the seriousness with which the matter is being treated. He stated that while investigations are ongoing, there have been no significant mission impacts so far. In conjunction, the British Ministry of Defense reassured that they take potential threats seriously and are bolstering security measures at defense sites in cooperation with the U.S. Air Force's response protocol. The situation remains fluid as officials continue to monitor the unidentified drone activity over these key military bases.
