Investigators have found DNA at the home of Nancy Guthrie, the missing mother of US news anchor Savannah Guthrie, which does not belong to her or those in close contact with her, according to local officials.
The Pima County Sheriff's Department stated that they are working to identify the origins of the DNA, though details about its location have not been disclosed.
Additionally, investigators discovered several gloves, with the closest being found approximately two miles from Nancy Guthrie's home.
The 84-year-old has been missing since she disappeared from her Tucson, Arizona home nearly two weeks ago, with authorities suspecting she was taken against her will.
The sheriff's department clarified that reports claiming a glove was found inside her home or on her property are inaccurate, and all collected evidence has been sent for laboratory analysis.
On Thursday, the FBI released a physical description of the suspect, identifying them as a male between 5ft 9in and 5ft 10in (175-177cm) with an average build.
Investigators were able to gather details about the suspect after analyzing doorbell camera footage from Guthrie's residence.
The footage shows the suspect wearing a 25-litre Ozark Trail Hiker Pack backpack. Following the release of this footage, authorities received over 13,000 tips, with 4,000 submitted within the first 24 hours.
The FBI has also increased the reward for information related to Guthrie's disappearance from $50,000 (£36,700) to $100,000. The sheriff's department emphasized that their focus is to target the suspect description without ruling out other possibilities or individuals.
Detectives have called for any additional video footage from neighbors as they continue their investigation. It is crucial to note that Nancy Guthrie requires daily medication and has limited mobility.
Her children, including Savannah Guthrie, have made desperate pleas on social media aimed at her abductor, expressing that they believe she is still alive and would be willing to pay for her safe return.
