Influencer Arrested as 28‑Million‑Dollar Cocaine Shipment Seized

Key A Nigerian social media star, Afolabi Kazeem Micheal—better known as KC Luxury—was taken into custody at Lagos airport after a covert operation discovered a 184.5‑kilogram cocaine shipment worth nearly $28 million, the NDLEA said on Monday.

Micheal had presented himself online as a businessman in gold and luxury goods and had amassed a following of 700,000 on Instagram, yet investigators allege he is the Nigerian “arrowhead” of a global cartel that moves cocaine from South America through Nigeria to Europe, Asia and the UK.

The drugs were hidden in brown boxes at a courier facility on 3 August, and the suspect was seized 10 days later while attempting to fly from Murtala Mohammed International to Paris, the agency said.

In addition to the drugs, officers seized more than $12,840 in cash across euros, pounds and naira, and expensive jewellery that PDAC lawyers describe as “consistent with illicit proceeds.” An alleged logistics employee, Lawal Mujab Kehinde, was also detained for donning the cocaine in packaging duties.

NDLEA chief General Buba Marwa said the operation highlighted “what can be achieved when international agencies cooperate,” and promised to follow the trail to the departure gates. The UK must now respond to confirm what arrests have been made on its soil, Marwa added.
