In a tense turn of events, an Indian pilot on a FlyDubai flight to Tel Aviv defied professional duty and personal injury to save hundreds of passengers.

The plane, FZ1073, suffered a violent cockpit confrontation when a co‑pilot, an Omani national, stabbed the captain. While the attack left the pilot wounded on the floor, he kept fighting the urge to flee, stating “I was not going to let others die.” He managed to force open the cockpit door.

Passengers and crew sprang into action, restraining the assailant and seizing control of the cockpit. Two reserve pilots landed the aircraft at Tabuk Airport, Saudi Arabia, at 06:58 local time, averting a disaster.

Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Benjamin Netanyahu praised the captain’s stamina and decision‑making, describing him as a hero and “true brave individual.” The pilot was transferred to Abu Dhabi, where he remains in stable condition following medical evaluation.

Investigations are underway to determine if terrorist elements were involved. Meanwhile, the airline’s safety protocols are being scrutinised following the unprecedented incident.
