Two people killed in blast at Bolivia’s military barracks.
A sudden explosion at an artillery regiment’s base in Viacha, 30km from La Paz, left at least two fatalities and 58 injuries.
Bolivian Defence Minister Ernesto Justiniano said the blast involved pyrotechnic material and that wounded personnel were being treated.
Health official Rita Nebraska estimated between 10 and 15 deaths, with officials urging residents to keep a minimum 150m distance from the complex amid fears of another detonation.
Police spokesman Roger Roca revealed that fireworks were stored at the barracks; the precise cause remains under investigation.
Viacha authorities declared three days of mourning to honour those affected by the tragedy.
