A Former Army Veteran Fires Out of FBI Building
Police in New York City arrested Andrew Arrabaca, 43, after he ignited a fire outside the FBI’s 26 Federal Plaza office on Monday morning. Arrabaca was recorded shooting a pellet gun and lighting fireworks, then pouring an accelerant on a staircase leading into the building.
According to the FBI, the suspect was armed with two axes, a machete, three knives and a firearm. He made several anti‑government and anti‑ICE statements during the incident, the agency said.
Three people were injured, including an immigrant attending a status hearing and a security officer who tackled the suspect. Authorities say the third injury was a bystander grazed by a pellet.
We remain deeply concerned about the safety of all New Yorkers, Mayor Zohran Mamdani said on X. We will hold accountable anyone who threatens that.
The incident comes amid protests against former President Donald Trump’s immigration policies. DHS officials labeled the arrest a anti‑ICE rioter, further inflaming tensions.
