In brief

Cindy Crawford’s Instagram post mourning the death of her son Presley Gerber has gone viral, as the world mourns the loss of the 27‑year‑old model. Crawford’s emotional tribute highlighted Presley's kindness and their family’s pride, while police investigate a suspected overdose. Presley’s sister Kaia also shared a heartfelt post, and the family thanks the outpouring of support. The case remains under investigative review by Los Angeles County. The Gerbers’ story underscores the challenges of mental health and substance abuse among young adults.

On her Instagram feed, modelling icon Cindy Crawford poured out grief over the sudden death of her 27‑year‑old son. The post, set beside a black‑and‑white photo of Presley, said the young man was “a sweet, beautiful soul loved now and forever.”

"We are so proud of how he showed up in the world, with kindness and vulnerability." – Cindy Crawford

Presley – who made his first run for Italian fashion house Moschino at 16 – died on 20 September at a rehab center in California. Police say the death is being investigated as a suspected overdose, though the Santa Monica Police Department has ruled out foul play. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner says the case is pending additional examination.

The grieving mother also thanked fans and strangers alike for the flood of love: "We feel so blessed to have had Presley in our lives for 27 years. We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support...Til we meet again our sweet boy. We love you forever, Mom, Dad and Kaia."

Kaia Gerber’s tribute

Presley’s sister Kaia followed suit, posting a video of them dancing as children and a heartfelt letter. She reflected on shared memories – from her first earring to the protective love she still feels for her brother. “I am learning how to love you when I cannot see you,” she wrote.

In the weeks leading up to his death, Presley had become public about his battles with mental health and drug use, including a regular Instagram series titled “Mental Health Mondays.” His father, businessman Rande Gerber, co‑founded the Casamigos tequila brand.
