Body in suitcase in Australian village turns out to be lifelike doll
Police in Australia were called to investigate a suitcase found near the small village of Oallen, about 230km south‑west of Sydney.
Two men discovered the suitcase on a road and reported it to authorities. An initial police announcement described a potential murder but was later retracted after forensic tests confirmed the contents were not human.
Forensic reports highlighted the doll’s realistic appearance, noting that it wore clothing, had hair, a nose piercing and markings resembling bruises and grazes.
Re‑search message emphasised that the investigative team followed proper protocols and stressed the importance of preserving the crime scene.
The discoverers of the suitcase were described as shocked but had made the right decision to report the find. Police will update the men that the remains were not human.
The Hume Police District has closed the investigation following the clarity of the forensic results.
