Powderfinger, one of Australia’s most beloved rock bands, has announced a comeback tour, marking their first concerts in 17 years.
The 18‑date run will start with four nights in Brisbane this September, followed by shows in Cairns, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and Melbourne, all staged under a stadium‑sized big‑top tent.
The band said they’re “absolutely ecstatic” to be on the road again, welcoming longtime fans and reaching new listeners who’ve never seen them live.
“Our music is tied to people’s most treasured memories,” the group noted, “and we hope to spread that joy as we tour the country alongside some of Australia’s best‑established and rising talent.”
The tour will run only on Fridays and Saturdays, mirroring the schedule used by Oasis’ world tour last year; no overseas dates have been confirmed yet.
During their nine‑year run the band released seven studio albums, including 2000’s Odyssey Number Five, crowned the best Australian album of all time by Triple J listeners in 2011, and 2025’s “My Happiness”, named the sixth‑best Australian song of all time.
Since the split, frontman Bernard Fanning has pursued a solo career, while bassist John Collins opened Brisbane’s largest live music venues.
