The Toll

Three‑score people died and more than seventy were injured, 24 of them critically. Authorities have identified 27 of the victims so far.

Witness Reports

Survivors said the doors of the main entrance were locked and emergency exit signs were missing, forcing people toward the back where restrooms became a death trap. One eyewitness, Phatsara Khamloet, described the bar as a "dark room" even before the fire.

Possible Causes

Police say the blaze started near the stage after a short‑circuit in an air‑conditioner cut power to the bar. Fire‑safety specialist Busakorn Saensuk noted plastic flowers and foam on the stage were highly flammable, aiding the rapid spread.

Safety Failures

The venue was registered as a "restaurant with live music," which does not require fire‑retardant materials. Locked exit doors, obstructed entryways and unlit emergency signs were cited as "lack of caution and disregard for patron safety" by Police General Kittiratt Phanphet.

Regulatory Review

The Metropolitan Administration said it is reassessing regulations on materials used in entertainment venues and restaurants, and is investigating possible negligence.
