In brief

A Russian ballistic‑missile attack struck a drone technology exhibition outside Kyiv, killing ten civilians and injuring around one hundred. The event had attracted senior defence officials, prompting angry reaction from Ukrainian authorities. The strike was one of several recent attacks: Sloviansk saw five deaths from glide bombs, Kirov was hit by an overnight strike, and Wildberries warehouses were targeted. Belarus and Romania reported additional drone‑related incidents, underscoring a broader strategy to disrupt Russian logistics and airspace.

Russian missile strike on a drone exhibition near Kyiv killed 10 civilians and wounded around 100, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky announced via social media.

The blast struck a public event that showcased Ukrainian drone technology and attracted defence officials, sparking criticism over the event’s safety and publicity. The strike used three ballistic missiles, only one intercepted by Ukrainian air‑defence.

Meanwhile, in the eastern city of Sloviansk, Russian glide bombs killed five people. A separate overnight strike in the Russian city of Kirov killed six civilians and wounded 26, hitting a facility that supplies aircraft and missile components. Ukrainian forces also targeted warehouses of Russia’s biggest online retailer Wildberries, claiming to disrupt logistics for the Russian army.

Zelensky said an investigation is underway and the prosecutor‑general’s office is looking into who authorised the exhibition and what security measures were applied. He also hinted at an upcoming visit to the United States to discuss peace talks.

Separately, Romanian President Nicusor Dan confirmed that an F‑16 fighter jet shot down a Russian drone that had entered Romanian airspace, while Romanian authorities issued alerts across the eastern and south‑eastern regions.

These incidents illustrate a broader pattern of targeted strikes aimed at disrupting both military assets and civilian infrastructure linked to Russia’s war effort.
