TUNIS, Tunisia (AP) — An international activist flotilla seeking to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza said Wednesday it was attacked for the second night in a row. The Global Sumud Flotilla reported that one of its boats, the British-flagged “Alma,” was targeted by a drone while docked in Tunisian waters. Fortunately, no one was harmed during the incident, although security camera footage revealed onboard crew members shouting “fire” as they pointed toward the sky. Projectiles ignited on the vessel's deck, causing an explosion and subsequent fire.

This latest attack mirrors one that occurred the previous night involving the Portuguese-flagged “Family” vessel. While Tunisian authorities initially denied claims that drones were involved in the first attack and stated they were investigating, no immediate comment has been made regarding the second attack.

The flotilla, comprised of approximately 20 boats, departed from Barcelona, Spain, on September 1 carrying a symbolic cargo of humanitarian aid. It had planned to make a stop in Tunisia before continuing its journey to Gaza.

“These repeat attacks come during intensified Israeli aggression on Palestinians in Gaza, and are an orchestrated attempt to distract and derail our mission,” the activists stated. They remain resolute in their commitment to the cause, asserting that the Global Sumud Flotilla will continue its efforts undeterred. No immediate response from Israeli authorities has been reported.
