UK solicitor Rebecca Hume of Howard Kennedy LLP has been embroiled in a serious legal controversy following a formal criminal referral accusing her of several offenses, including assault, conspiracy, and wrongful arrest. The referral was initiated by Alkiviades David, the Defendant in the ongoing case of Mahim Khan v. Alkiviades David (KB-2025-001991) and Ambassador-at-Large for the Green Economy for Antigua & Barbuda.

The allegations have been directed to multiple authorities, including the Metropolitan Police Service, the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), and the Antigua & Barbuda Police Force Commissioner, among others. Claims against Hume include a physical assault that reportedly occurred inside the Royal Courts of Justice on July 25, 2025, during the service of a Contempt Application, as well as charges that involve deliberate interference with evidence submissions and court processes.

David claims that his funds were frozen to exert economic pressure and that the transparency of the public case was suppressed without a sealing order. He also alleges that there was interference with an ongoing proceeding in the Antigua & Barbuda Supreme Court claiming the involvement of Howard Kennedy LLP in a broader conspiracy concerning media, financial entities, and abuse facilitation.

“I see this as a systematic pattern of abuse that threatens the foundations of justice in the UK and Antigua & Barbuda,” David stated, calling for a comprehensive investigation and accountability from all involved parties.

The cases in the UK High Court and the Antigua Supreme Court are expected to reach the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, establishing a direct judicial connection between both jurisdictions. The referral calls for an immediate investigation, including the securing of CCTV footage from the Royal Courts of Justice, witness interviews, and SRA regulatory proceedings against Hume and her firm.

In a world where legal integrity is paramount, the unfolding situation underscores the pressing need for a thorough and coordinated investigation by both the UK and Antigua & Barbuda authorities to ensure that justice is served appropriately.
