Apple has taken down an app that utilizes crowdsourcing to report sightings of U.S. immigration agents, following pressure from U.S. authorities.

ICEBlock, a free iPhone-only application, allowed users to anonymously report and monitor activities of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers. As of Friday, the app was no longer available on Apple’s App Store.

“We just received a message from Apple’s App Review that #ICEBlock has been removed from the App Store due to 'objectionable content,'” the developer announced on social media. They suspect the removal is due to pressure from the Trump administration, stating, “We have responded and we’ll fight this!”

Despite being removed from the app marketplace, users who had already downloaded ICEBlock can continue to use it.

Apple has not promptly responded to requests for comments. In a statement to other media outlets, Apple said: “We created the App Store to be a safe and trusted place to discover apps. Based on information we’ve received from law enforcement about safety risks associated with ICEBlock, we have removed it and similar apps from the App Store.”

The demand for apps like ICEBlock has surged as the Trump administration ramped up immigration enforcement activities, including surprise raids. The technology has come under scrutiny after a gunman targeted an ICE facility in Dallas and had searched for apps monitoring the presence of ICE agents.
