In brief

A ludicrous incident at Disneyland Paris raised eyebrows when a British man was caught trying to arrange a mock wedding with a minor using false documents.

On Saturday morning, Disneyland Paris was the scene of a troubling event involving a 39-year-old British man, a registered sex offender, who attempted to orchestrate a mock wedding ceremony with a 9-year-old girl. The authorities confirmed that the unusual "event" was meant to be a private affair, with numerous paid actors disguised as guests.According to Jean-Baptiste Bladier, a prosecutor in Meaux, near the theme park, park employees quickly intervened upon noticing the child’s age. After a swift police response, they revealed that the ceremony was fictitious and intended for private filming. The disturbing revelation about the suspect, who managed to book the event using stolen Latvian identification and counterfeit documentation, has raised serious concerns. Mr. Bladier emphasized that the man had altered his appearance significantly to evade detection. As a result of his actions, the suspect has been charged with fraud, identity theft, and money laundering. While he has not yet been formally charged regarding the involvement of a minor, he has been named an assisted witness in the ongoing investigation. This raises dire questions about security practices at one of the world's most celebrated amusement parks, particularly concerning the measures in place to protect minors from predatory behavior.
