Second Suspect Charged in Arson Attacks Related to U.K. Prime Minister

A Romanian man has been charged in connection with fires targeting properties linked to Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

In a significant development, the Metropolitan Police have charged Stanislav Carpiuc, a 26-year-old Romanian national, with conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life. This charge comes after investigations into three recent fires, two of which affected buildings associated with Prime Minister Keir Starmer in North London. The fires, which occurred earlier this month, included one incident at a former residence of Starmer in Kentish Town, which he occupied until moving to Downing Street following his general election victory.

Another fire took place in the nearby Islington area just a day earlier, and a vehicle linked to Starmer was also set on fire on May 8. No injuries were reported from these incidents; however, the doorway of the Kentish Town home sustained damage. The prompt intervention of counterterrorism police underscores the serious nature of these events due to their connection to a prominent public figure.

Carpiuc allegedly conspired with 21-year-old Roman Lavrynovych, who was charged last week and has already appeared in court.
