In brief

Three Wildberries warehouses were targeted by Ukrainian drones overnight. The strike near Moscow killed five civilians and left ten injured, while fires erupted at the St Petersburg and Tver sites. Russia says 320 drones were shot down. Ukrainian authorities claim the warehouses are used to supply the military, a claim denied by Moscow. Other Ukrainian attacks have also killed civilians in Mykolaiv and Sumy.

Ukrainian drones struck three Wildberries logistics sites overnight, with the most destructive hit coming near Moscow. Local officials in Chekhov said a warehouse on the outskirts of the capital caught fire, killing five civilians and injuring ten more. The casualties were confirmed by governor Andrei Vorobyov’s post on Telegram, which included photos of the blaze.

Wildberries, the Russian e‑commerce giant widely dubbed the “Russian Amazon”, confirmed damage at its St Petersburg depot, while a Tver warehouse also suffered fire damage. Ukrainian officials say the company supplies the Russian military, a claim Moscow denies.

According to Russia’s defence ministry, 320 drones were intercepted and destroyed during the night, countering the attacks. The ministry reported no casualties from the interceptions.

In other areas, Ukrainian strikes killed civilians in the southern port city of Mykolaiv and in Sumy, where an 89‑year‑old woman and two girls were injured. Russian forces also suffered losses after a drone was shot down off a beach in the Krasnodar region, killing seven people and injuring 58.

Both sides maintain that they do not deliberately target civilians. Witnesses on the ground described a chaotic scene with smoke billowing from the Wildberries warehouse and flames licking the buildings. Videos posted on social media show the warehouse in the St Petersburg region reduced to ash, while satellite imagery reveals smoke plume over the Chekhov site. These eyewitness accounts have been cross‑checked by news agencies.
