Three Dead, Several Injured After Seattle Food Festival Shooting Near Space Needle

Three people have been killed and several others injured following a shooting at a food festival near the Space Needle in Seattle, the fire department said on Sunday night.

The Bite of Seattle festival had been in full swing at the Seattle Centre when shots rang out around 18:00 local time.

One suspect has been taken into custody, while a second is believed to have fled and is still at large, according to Assistant Chief Tyrone Davis. Police say the suspects were shooting at each other.

Two deaths were confirmed at the scene, with a third succumbing to injuries later in hospital. A two‑year‑old boy was among the wounded.

Video footage shows attendees taking shelter in the iconic Space Needle’s lobby, crouching behind pillars and merchandise displays.

Mayor Katie Wilson thanked responding officers in a statement, acknowledging that the city was grieving and committed to keeping the public safe.

Governor Bob Ferguson tweeted his prayers for victims and responders, describing the event as senseless violence.

Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal expressed support for affected families and confirmed ongoing coordination with mayoral and state officials to monitor the situation.

Seattle Police urge anyone nearby to avoid the area until the investigation is complete.
