Rescue operations are ongoing in Lithuania's Pabrade region as search crews aim to locate a U.S. Army vehicle submerged in a muddy swamp, which went missing while carrying four American soldiers. The vehicle, an M88 Hercules, disappeared during a military training exercise on Tuesday. It was located, but attempts to reach it have proven challenging due to the area's deep mud and excess water from nearby lakes.

President Gitanas Nauseda visited the scene on Friday, expressing his hope for a miraculous recovery despite the difficult circumstances. Eyewitness accounts suggest that the military vehicle veered off a path and plunged into the swamp. Meanwhile, the U.S. ambassador to Lithuania, Kara C. McDonald, has been on-site offering support alongside the Lithuanian president.

The four soldiers, part of the First Brigade, Third Infantry Division, were conducting training exercises near the Belarus border, which has heightened concerns amid ongoing geopolitical tensions surrounding Russia and Ukraine.
