Rute Cardoso, the wife of Liverpool striker Diogo Jota, shared an emotional tribute on Instagram commemorating what would have marked their one-month wedding anniversary. This heartfelt post comes just three weeks after the tragic death of Jota, who lost his life in a car crash on July 3.

In her touching post, Rute included three cherished wedding photos from their June 22 ceremony, captioning them with: “one month of our 'until death do us part'” and asserting she is "forever" his. The couple had embarked on a new chapter together, filled with dreams and aspirations, before their life was cut short in a devastating incident.

Diogo Jota, just 28 years old, died in a horrific crash in Cernadilla, Spain, when the Lamborghini he was in suffered a tyre blow-out, resulting in a fatal collision. Alongside him in the vehicle was his younger brother, Andre Silva.

Jota was a pivotal player for Liverpool, having joined the club from Wolverhampton in 2020. He netted 65 goals during his tenure, contributing to the team’s successes, including the FA Cup and League Cup wins in 2022 and the prestigious Premier League title the following season.

In honor of their beloved player, Liverpool has made the decision to retire the number 20 shirt once worn by Jota. Further memorials include a mural near Anfield prominently displaying the number 20, surrounded by an outpouring of tributes and messages from fans grieving the loss of the talented forward.

Fans and the football community continue to rally around Rute and her family, demonstrating the profound impact Jota had both on and off the pitch.
