Perry Tole, a 69-year-old truck driver, is taking legal action against former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez and his employer Fox Corporation following an incident that left Tole with serious injuries. The lawsuit, filed in Indiana state court, seeks unspecified damages, including attorney’s fees, citing Sanchez's alleged instigation of a physical altercation outside a downtown hotel in Indianapolis.
According to the lawsuit, the fight erupted after Sanchez approached Tole, who was parked in a hotel loading dock. Tole claims Sanchez entered his truck without permission and subsequently assaulted him. Tole then reported that he used pepper spray on Sanchez in defense, after which Sanchez allegedly continued to advance, prompting Tole to pull out a knife for protection.
Police reports indicate that Sanchez sustained significant stab wounds to his torso during the encounter. An image circulating on social media shows Tole in a neck brace, visibly injured.
The Marion County prosecutors have charged Sanchez with felony battery, along with multiple misdemeanor charges, linked to what they described as a dispute over a parking spot. Prosecutor Ryan Mears commented, 'This was a confrontation over a parking space that resulted in someone suffering incredibly significant injuries.'
Sanchez was in Indianapolis for a Fox broadcast of the NFL game between the Colts and the Las Vegas Raiders. He had a 10-year professional football career prior to his transition to sports commentary.
As of now, representatives for Sanchez have declined to comment on the lawsuit, and attempts to reach Tole's attorneys for further insights have been unsuccessful.
