Kyiv Northern Bridge strike hampers traffic amid mounting attacks

The Northern Bridge in Kyiv after drone strike

In a fresh escalation of the war, a Russian drone slammed into the Northern Bridge, a vital link between Kyiv’s eastern and western districts. Mayor Vitaly Klitschko said the strike damaged the road surface and blew the trolleybus overhead wires.

Klitschko posted on Telegram: "Hitting the North Bridge. Emergency services are on their way," adding that traffic from the left to the right bank was now blocked.

The attack follows a barrage of drones that have hit Kyiv’s Southern Bridge since Thursday, a move the city’s defence council has described as a new phase in Moscow’s relentless assault on critical infrastructure, logistics and housing.

The mayor warned that intensified Russian strikes were "tearing Kyiv apart" and condemned Moscow’s justification that its actions were merely a response to Ukrainian attacks on Russian energy sites – a narrative the city denies, claiming Russia initiated the conflict.
