Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit, is facing serious allegations as he is suspected of committing three rapes and 23 other offenses, as revealed by police on Friday. Høiby, who does not hold a royal title or carry out official duties, has been the subject of scrutiny following three separate arrests last year in August, September, and November.
After a thorough 10-month investigation, which included extensive witness interviews, several searches, and the examination of significant digital evidence, Norwegian police have now referred the matter to prosecutors to determine whether charges will be filed. Police attorney Andreas Kruszewski confirmed the status of the case, noting it has reached a critical juncture.
Despite the serious nature of the accusations, Høiby's attorney, Petar Sekulic, emphasized that his client takes these allegations seriously but denies wrongdoing in most instances, particularly regarding sexual offenses and violence. The 28-year-old has been under investigation following his initial arrest on August 4, 2024, in connection with an assault. As part of the investigation, Høiby has cooperated with authorities and was questioned multiple times throughout the fall of 2024 and spring of 2025.
Oslo Police District reported several offenses attributed to Høiby, including four counts of sexually offensive behavior and two counts of bodily harm. Some allegations related to sexual offenses have been dismissed based on statute of limitations or evidentiary issues. Kruszewski further stated that while details about the number of victims involved can't be disclosed, he confirmed that it exceeds ten.
The Royal House of Norway has released a statement indicating that the case is currently moving through the legal process, and they will refrain from commenting further at this time.
