In brief

A flight of Israeli drones struck a police station in the Jabalia area of northern Gaza, killing seven people, including a senior officer, officials said. Witnesses reported four missiles hitting the post near a busy market, while a Hamas‑controlled interior ministry condemned the attack as a massacre. The Israeli military confirmed the strike, saying it targeted ‘terrorists’. The incident follows a pattern of near‑daily ceasefire violations in Gaza and has up the toll of civilian casualties to over 1,100, according to Gaza’s health ministry.

Israeli drone strike on a Hamas‑run police post in the Jabalia area of northern Gaza killed seven people, including a senior officer, officials say.

Five witnesses reported that an Israeli drone fired four missiles at the post, which was located near a busy market in the Jabalia region.

The Hamas‑run interior ministry announced that Col Mohammed Marwan Salem, the head of the local police station, and several other officers were among those killed, condemning the attack as a massacre.

An Israeli military official confirmed the strike and said it had targeted “terrorists.”

This incident is part of a series of daily clashes in the Gaza Strip, with a recent report that two others were killed by Israeli fire in southern Gaza earlier that week.

An air strike also killed a man and injured three others in the Khan Younis area, Reuters reported, while Israeli forces claimed to have hit a Hamas operative there.

In Rafah, a 10‑year‑old boy named Muataz Abu Shaar was killed by Israeli gunfire, the medics said; the Israeli military has not yet commented on that particular incident.

Both Israel and Hamas have accused each other of near‑daily violations of the ceasefire that entered into effect in Gaza last October.

According to Gaza’s Hamas‑run health ministry, at least 1,110 people have been killed by Israeli fire since the ceasefire, while the Israeli military reports that four of its soldiers have been killed in Palestinian attacks.

The war was triggered by a Hamas‑led attack on southern Israel on 7 October 2023, killing about 1,200 people and taking 251 hosts. Israel responded with a large military campaign in Gaza, which the territory’s health ministry says has killed more than 73,230 people.
