Infantino Fires Back at Critics: ‘Meditate, Pray or Watch Football’

Fifa president Gianni Infantino has taken to Instagram to call out its detractors, telling them to either meditate, pray or watch football instead of spreading hate. The 15‑slide post was reposted to the world’s governing body’s eight million followers, aiming to calm critics who have struggled with the organization’s handling of the 2026 World Cup.

Infantino highlighted that the tournament celebrated humanity at its best, noting that it ran with 100 % safety and security and free of violent incidents. He also countered Iran’s visa and travel problems, saying that “football unites the world” and asking the world to forget “the hate and false rumors” that have circulated.

When faced with allegations of political interference after a US President was reported to have helped a player avoid a suspension, Infantino said such rulings were routine in many leagues and added that those who criticize must themselves see the unity being created on the pitch.

The president’s message also mentioned an IOC decision not to investigate him for possible breaches of political neutrality, while a human‑rights group’s complaint was deemed outside the IOC’s jurisdiction.

Infantino closed his post by urging worldwide fans to “show some love and respect” for the coffee‑colored drama that has fans of all ages, times and nations come together. He said the entire experience had “made us one” and that he was “incarcerated to watch at least one match.”
