The son of Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Marius Borg Høiby, is under investigation amid serious allegations of triple rape and a total of 23 criminal offences, according to police disclosures made on Friday. The allegations come after Høiby’s arrest on three occasions last year in August, September, and November, leading to a lengthy 10-month inquiry. The police have now confirmed that the case will advance to the prosecution stage, with Police attorney Andreas Kruszewski noting that the authorities have compiled a comprehensive body of evidence, including witness interviews and digital material.
Høiby, who is 28 years old and holds no royal title or official duties, has maintained a stance of responsibility concerning the accusations but denies significant wrongdoing, particularly regarding the allegations of sexual abuse and violence, as articulated by his lawyer Petar Sekulic. His legal troubles began on August 4, 2024, when he was initially detained on assault charges. The Oslo Police District emphasized that their investigation was exhaustive, involving numerous testimonies and multiple search operations.
Specific allegations against Høiby include four instances of sexually offensive behavior, one count of abuse in a close relationship, and two counts of bodily harm. While there are multiple victims identified, the police have clarified that some allegations of sexual offences were dismissed due to statutes of limitations and evidentiary issues. Mr. Kruszewski did confirm that the number of victims mentioned is in double-digits, though further specifics remain undisclosed. The Royal House of Norway has refrained from commenting beyond acknowledging the ongoing legal proceedings.
