According to police reports, three masked men entered the establishment armed with handguns and an assault rifle, indiscriminately firing into the crowd around 10:40 PM.Superintendent Paul MacIntyre of the organized crime enforcement unit revealed that six individuals sustained gunshot wounds and were rushed to the hospital, while the remaining six suffered injuries from broken glass and other debris amidst the chaos. Thankfully, no fatalities have been reported, a fact MacIntyre highlighted during a Saturday news briefing.Witness accounts describe a scene of terror as patrons attempted to duck for cover or flee to safety, some hiding in the basement of the pub. Surveillance footage showed the suspects quickly escaping the scene in a vehicle after the attack.MacIntyre painted a grim picture of the aftermath, recounting how officers arrived to find individuals lying on the floor, as well as a chaotic scene filled with abandoned food, shattered glass, and blood. Authorities are still in the dark regarding the suspects' whereabouts, and their motive for the attack remains unknown.The superintendent expressed concern about the potential ongoing threat to the public, given the brazen nature of the shooting. “This was a reckless act of violence that has shaken our community and the city,” he said.In a statement shared on social media, Mayor Olivia Chow expressed her distress over the incident, stressing the importance of ongoing investigations, and extending her thoughts to the victims and their families.
