At least 25 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli strikes across the Gaza Strip, the Hamas-run health ministry has reported.

Ten of these casualties included a woman and a young girl, following an airstrike that targeted a religious endowments building in the eastern Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City, according to rescuers on the scene.

The Israeli military stated that the strikes targeted Hamas terrorist targets after gunmen allegedly opened fire at their soldiers operating in southern Khan Younis, which they claimed violated a five-week-old ceasefire agreement.

This surge of violence comes shortly after the UN Security Council endorsed U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace plan for Gaza, aimed to curb escalating hostilities between Israel and Hamas.

Spokesman for Gaza's Hamas-run Civil Defence agency, Mahmoud Bassal, indicated that Israeli airstrikes, drone attacks, and artillery fire hit various locations across Gaza City and Khan Younis shortly after sunset.

The incident has led to severe destruction, particularly in Zeitoun where the religious endowments ministry building was heavily damaged. Videos shared by the Civil Defence documented rescuers attempting to extract individuals buried under debris.

In a separate occurrence, further strikes in Gaza City and Khan Younis reported additional fatalities and injuries, underscoring the precarious security situation.

The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that their response was prompted by attacks from militants, emphasizing the need for ongoing military actions until Hamas is disarmed.

As the situation develops, the international community continues to call for peace and a resolution to the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
