PREMIER FOOTBALL icon Cristiano Ronaldo has married his longtime partner, model and influencer Georgina Rodríguez, in a discreet civil ceremony in Cascais near Lisbon on 11 August.

Ronaldo took to his Instagram page to share a simple photo of two hands – both adorned with wedding rings – and wrote a short caption that marked the ceremony as the wedding of the year. The image went viral on the first day, earning more than three million likes within 30 minutes.

The football superstar and Rodríguez have been together for ten years, having met when she worked in a Gucci shop in Madrid while he was on Real Madrid. Their engagement – announced the previous year – featured a diamond ring and the line, “Yes I do. In this and in all my lives.”

All five of their children, two of whom share a birth with Rodríguez, travelled from around the world to attend the ceremony, turning Cascais into a mini‑family reunion.

Beyond the wedding, Ronaldo continues to shine on the pitch. He has scored nearly 1,000 goals in an illustrious career that has spanned clubs such as Sporting, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus and Al Nassr, the Saudi Arabian team he signed for in 2022. He is also the current captain of Portugal’s national team and recently completed his record‑tying sixth World Cup appearance.

Ronaldo’s 2024 contract with Al Nassr extends through 2027, ensuring his presence in Riyadh for the next two seasons. Bloomberg estimated his net worth at $1.4 bn last year, making him the first billionaire footballer in history.
