Four of the original cast are back for a new TV series that will pick up after the 2019 film Crazy Rich Asians, with Constance Wu and Henry Golding reprising their roles as Rachel and Nick.

Ronny Chieng will return as Eddie, and Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh will have a recurring role as Nick’s mother Eleanor, bringing the family drama to a whole new level.

“It’s a ‘Crazy Rich’ family reunion!” says co‑writer and showrunner Adele Lim, who notes the eight‑episode series will dive deeper into Kevin Kwan’s bestselling novels.

HBO and Warner Bros Television are co‑producing the series, with Lim as an executive producer alongside film director Jon M. Chu. Production is slated to begin early next year.

The news arrived just days after Warner Bros announced a £110 bn (£82.8 bn) merger with Paramount Skydance, underscoring the industry's rapid changes.

The original film hit the US box office, topped its release, and was nominated for two Golden Globes, paving the way for this new television chapter. The story remains a milestone for all‑Asian casts in Hollywood, celebrating cultural diversity and sharp humor.

Fans of the movie and the novels eagerly anticipate the continuation, while Eisner & Chieng pledge to shed light on the characters’s luxury and nuance in the next eight episodes.
