In brief

Over the course of seven months, three brave souls undertook a quest recreating the historical pilgrimage of their Andalusian ancestors, navigating challenges and sharing their experience with a huge online audience.

The journey, titled "Hajj on Horseback", saw Tarek Rodriguez, Abdallah Rafael Hernandez Mancha, and Abdelkader Harkassi Aidi travel nearly 4,000 miles, facing significant obstacles along the way, all while garnering massive attention through social media. The goal of connecting the past to the present saw them riding through diverse landscapes, from Bosnia where horses escaped into dangerous areas, to France where one nearly drowned but was saved by a determined pilgrim.Preparation for this enriching adventure took four years, but once they set off, it was a test of faith—both in God and in social media, with their Instagram account alone amassing over 345,000 followers witnessing their unique journey.Despite the many challenges, including camping in unfamiliar territory and navigating political hurdles, their posts resonated with many, with some garnering upwards of 550,000 views, leaving an indelible mark on the contemporary understanding of pilgrimage.
