In a surprising turn of events at the Palazzo Maffei museum in Verona, Italy, a couple’s casual photo op went awry as they managed to damage a chair covered in dazzling Swarovski crystals. The incident, captured on security cameras, shows the man initially squatting on the remarkable artwork before it buckled under his weight.

The footage, which caught the pair waiting for museum guards to leave before posing, shares a glimpse into the moment when the man inadvertently sat on the fragile chair, failing to maintain his balance despite attempts to hold onto the wall. His companion quickly assisted him and they both exited the scene hastily.

Museum officials regarded the incident as an unfortunate accident and not a case of intentional vandalism but are calling the police for assistance. Vanessa Carlon, the museum’s director, expressed concern over the lengths some visitors will go for social media-worthy experiences, especially when they choose to leave without taking responsibility for their actions.

The museum has since released the footage in hopes of enticing the pair to step forward and apologize. "It wasn’t such a brilliant thought to sit on an artwork," Carlon remarked during a phone interview, urging guests to be more mindful of the art they interact with. The local authorities are still working to identify the tourists involved in the incident.
