BBC at Venezuela baseball stadium sheltering earthquake survivors

When two massive earthquakes struck Venezuela last week, they devastated thousands of homes and left a large portion of the population without shelter.

In the northern coastal town of Catia la Mar, BBC reporter Will Grant visited a makeshift shelter inside a local baseball stadium. Survivors shuffle between the stadium gates with blankets, sleeping outdoors or in rough tents as they wait for official temporary housing.

These displaced residents rely on donated food and clothing as they hope government agencies will bring emergency accommodation while the country begins rebuilding.

Despite limited resources, the spirit among the survivors remains hopeful, with many expressing confidence that temporary aid is forthcoming.
