Billy Joel, the renowned singer-songwriter, has expressed optimism about his health during a recent episode of Bill Maher's Club Random podcast, two months after revealing his diagnosis of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH), a rare brain condition. The 76-year-old musician stated, "I feel good," and acknowledged the challenges he faces, primarily with his balance, but finds the label of "brain disorder" misleading.

Earlier in May, Joel was forced to cancel several concert dates due to his diagnosis, which doctors indicated was worsened by his recent performance schedule. NPH is primarily seen in individuals over 60 and involves an abnormal buildup of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain, which can lead to various impairments, such as issues with hearing, vision, and mobility.

In an earlier Instagram post, Joel committed to "specific" physical therapy to aid his recovery, emphasizing his dedication to his health. His wife, Alexis Joel, conveyed gratitude for the prompt diagnosis and care they received, expressing hope for his recovery. The couple's family also echoed this sentiment, cherishing the assistance they've received throughout Joel's health journey.

Due to his health condition, Joel announced the cancellation of 17 planned performances across North America and Europe in 2025 and 2026, including major shows in iconic venues like Murrayfield in Edinburgh and Anfield in Liverpool.

The artist, known for chart-topping hits like "Uptown Girl" and "Piano Man," has maintained an active touring schedule over the years, culminating in a remarkable decade-long residency at Madison Square Garden that concluded last February. His last performance ended abruptly as he fell during a show while interacting with fans. Following that, he shared news of his medical condition requiring physical rehabilitation after recent surgery, leading to a postponement of his tour.

Joel’s devoted fanbase continues to support him as he navigates these health challenges, looking forward to his recovery and future performances.
