A disturbing incident unfolded at the Solterra Resort in Davenport, Florida, as British national Mark Gibbon, 62, found himself in serious legal trouble while on holiday with his family. According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Gibbon has been charged with attempted second-degree murder after he allegedly tried to drown his daughter-in-law during a heated argument over their children.

The confrontation reportedly took place in the swimming pool of their holiday rental home near the renowned Walt Disney World Resort. Witnesses claim that the argument escalated quickly, resulting in Gibbon’s violent actions against the 33-year-old woman. He is accused of pushing her underwater multiple times and holding her down, preventing her from breathing.

Sheriff Grady Judd condemned the behavior, emphasizing the expectation for visitors to act respectfully during their stay in Polk County. "It's great that Polk County draws visitors from all across the world, but we expect vacationers to behave while they visit with us, just as we expect our lifelong residents to do the same," he stated. Judd further noted that Gibbon's lack of anger management may result in him extending his vacation in Florida—this time from behind bars.

The ordeal came to an abrupt halt when a young girl intervened, jumping into the pool to assist her mother. Alarmed, two neighboring sisters reported the incident to the sheriff's office. Following their call, Gibbon was apprehended and is currently in custody at Polk County Jail, awaiting further legal proceedings.
