Thirteen fans were injured when a car crashed into a crowd gathered outside the Espanyol-Barcelona derby match on Thursday. The incident occurred moments before the kickoff of the match, which ended with a 2-0 victory for Barcelona, securing them the La Liga title.

According to local police, four individuals were transported to hospitals, but fortunately, none of the injuries were classified as serious. Authorities promptly released a statement reassured spectators within the stadium that there was no danger posed to them.

Witnesses on social media shared videos showing the car driving into the crowd, having initially halted between garbage bins near the stadium entrance, where fans had gathered in anticipation of welcoming the Espanyol team’s arrival.

In response to the crash, emergency services dispatched ten ambulances to the scene. While the injuries ranged in severity, reports indicated that the most serious injury was a broken leg.

Salvador Illa, the President of the Government of Catalonia who was present at the event, addressed the situation on Spanish television channel Movistar Plus, stating, "It was an accident. Some people were injured, but not seriously. There are no major incidents to report."

The driver of the vehicle involved has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and causing injury, as local authorities conduct further investigations into the incident.
